News FLASH! Today, the Mariners have agreed to trade Julio Mateo tehfz.com/clutchly/p300.html to the Dodgers for a young pitching prospect in Chris Volstad (A) tehfz.com/clutchly/p3747.html. Pending approval by the league Commisioner. In a statement issued by the Front Office. We realize we gave up a good arm from our bullpen for a young prospect in Chris, but we needed to address a weakness in our organization which is starting pitching. We do have guys within the organization that can fill the void of losing Julio's arm in the pen. Although he will be missed. We wish him well. Bill Bavasi has been quoted saying: I like this kid, he has some decent stuff and has 4 pitches in his arsenal. With a fastball that clocks around the low 90's, he has definate potential to be a good starter on a big league roster. What I think will bring this kid out is his attitude, he seems to come up big when he needs to.

Dodgers confirm. I need one more reliever in the bullpen and Mateo is good and still pretty young at 28. I give up a good prospect, but I have a number of good pitching prospects, so I felt dealing this one wouldn't hurt much of my team's future
